After last week's fiasco the Riders and I are both looking to get back on track. The bumbling Toronto Argonauts should be just the tonic we need. Bart Andrus' team has really struggled this year with questionable personel moves, inconsistent quarterback play, and a group of receivers nobody (Toronto residents included) has ever heard of. The Roughriders need a boost after a disheartening loss to the BC Lions last week that saw their chances of hosting a playoff game significantly diminished. Here are the keys to the green victory:
1. Don't get overconfident. The Toronto Argonauts are still technically a Canadian Football League team and should be prepared for as such.
2. Key the run. Joseph/Pickett and that receiving corps will probably not beat you.
3. Use your imagination. The play calling lately has been painfully predictable. Throw the ball deep on first down. Run on second down. Mix it up a bit. We've been making it far too easy on our opponents.
These games against teams that we should beat are really must-wins if we want to be taken seriously as contenders. The Riders have a huge game against Calgary next week, but had better not look past the Argos. Instead use it a springboard for a bit of momentum. Go Riders!
