Congratulations to Roughriders slotback Andy Fantuz who has been named the CFL's outstanding Canadian player for the month of October. Fantuz finished the year strongly and ended up compiling 87 catches for 1380 yards, leading the league in both yardage and cereal. That is the first time a Canadian player has accomplished that feat since Calgary's Dave Sapungis did it in 1995. Fantuz is also the Western Division's nominee for outstanding Canadian player in the CFL. He squares off against Hamilton slotback Dave Stala who had a breakout year for the Tiger-Cats. Since the players play the same position one can compare their stats and Fantuz' are just straight up better. He had two more catches and an extra 365 yards. Both players had 6 touchdowns. Fantuz is also the only player nominated from the Riders while the Cats have 4 nominees. So expect Fantuz to bring the hardware home on Nov 25 when all the winners are announced.
